ear candy: dr. dog!

i'm missing philly this week...so west philadelphia's own dr. dog seem to be the balm i need, which is good since the "random" function in my itunes plays them a lot. they are kinda awesome, so these black and white diamond slice earrings by lexluxe seem appropriately equally cool.

diggin' the digital sounds from alt-j....they're kinda like a mash-up of dreamy computer jams and cool vocals. these chevron earrings from scarlettgarnet seem naturally rhythmic to me.

ear candy: foxygen!

i heard foxygen on all songs considered and now i cannot stop gazing into the winter sky while listening to their hazy tunes. i think these earrings by nayajewelry are just as dreamy.

maybe it's the cold weather, but i've been listening to a lot of iron & wine this week...sam beam's songs seem super COZY to me. i saw him play in philly many many years ago...these geometric brass earrings by talastone are a tribute to that younger version of myself.

british band, the XX, just released a fantastic new record, so i thought i would give them a shout-out via this blog post. and these earrings from silver lines jewelry are pretty cool too.

true confession: i have a HUGE girl-crush on rihanna. her music helps energize me during my runs and sometimes the songs just plainly help me get up and MOVE when i am feeling bleh! i think that she would wear these fierce beaded earrings by luthien art.

ear candy: fleet foxes!

i'm working on a music mix to give to my philadelphia friends, but there are just way TOO many songs on it right now. how do i edit out all the tunes that reflect my time here or songs that evoke memories...like the time i danced to "moves like jagger" for a friend when she was feeling sleepy. i showed her MY best moves!

one band with 4 or 5 songs currently on the list is fleet foxes. perhaps they are so well represented  because they have (hushed) layered epic sounding songs which are perfect for my epic journey! speaking of travel...the chevron points the way with these wood earrings from scarlet garnet.

a friend from MN visited me last weekend and (lucky for me) shared some of his recent favorite bands/music. they were all good tunes, but i've been stuck on minneapolis band polica. i cannot stop listening to them...i think it's the double drums. these rainbow druzy earrings by julianne blumlo also have a bit of a percussive look to them!

i like my go-to late night bike riding soundtrack as atmospheric as all get out...so the husband/wife duo exitmusic fits into the playlist perfectly. these turquoise shield earrings from sparklefarm would help keep me safe as i coast through sonic magic!

ear candy: sharon jones and the dap kings - workin' it!

i had the chance to see sharon jones and the dap kings play live last spring and let me tell you - they aim to please. ms. jones not only has an amazing voice, but she also had an amazing way with the crowd. it was so hard to suppress my smile/joy when the horn section kicked in! SJDK have a go big or go home kinda vibe, similar to these neon feather earrings by pretty vagrant.

ear candy: jason schwartzman is a talented man!

i have a crush on jason schwartzman - THE MUSICIAN. i like the actor version of him too, but i have been pleasantly surprised by how much i like the music from his recent band, coconut records. it's great summer pop! and a perfect match for these copper corrugated triangle copper earrings from blueberrycream.

alela diane's music reminds me of a dense forest...with a little melodic cold struggle mixed in...yet still very beautiful. if that makes any sense. and i think these earrings (by black and white jewels) fit her sonic mood perfectly.

for some reason i have been listening to a lot of elvis on my itunes lately...solid summer BBQ/public dancing/public beer drinking music! thought these "pause and play" earrings from secret find were a perfect fit!
