DIY Thursday - lavender honey salt scrub anyone?

when i lived in minnesota my skin was super dry (i can confidently blame the cold long winters)...then i moved to philadelphia and my skin turned oily (i can confidently blame the hot humid summers)...and now that the season is changing my confused skin is simply FREAKING OUT.
so, for my DIY project today, i thought i would do my unhappy skin a favor by creating a (slightly modified) lavender honey salt scrub. i found the basic recipe in an old copy of readymade magazine and added my own bits of flair...ingredients as follows:

1 tsp. olive oil
(antioxidant properties that also moisturizes, soothes and heals all skin types)
1 tsp. honey
(increases circulation and has antimicrobial properties that protect, repair, & prevent skin damage)
1/2 tsp. sea salt
(assists in the rejuvenation of cells)
10 drops of lavender essential oil
(soothes and calms the skin, while also improving skin tone)
a dash each of: cardamom and cinnamon
(increases circulation)
1 tsp. freshly grated lemon zest
(astringent properties)

thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. you may feel the urge to eat this deliciously smelly concoction, but instead slather the paste onto your skin. once applied your face kinda looks like the surface of a cinnamon and sugar doughnut.

i recommend lying down and spending some time taking deep cleansing breathes (or you could listen to your meditation app like i did) while you wait for your face to tighten...about 10-15 minutes. then you rinse it off, gently pat dry and enjoy your soft pampered skin!
